Christmas Alternatives will be available as a St. Mark long-standing tradition again this year. Please look for us in the Narthex on November 26 until Christmas. Last year St. Mark donated over $13,000 to missions around the world through Christmas Alternatives. Thank you for your amazing support and generosity.

Joyful Noise for Advent – Children’s Choir
On Sunday, December 10 at 10:30 we will celebrate the ‘season of waiting’ as our youngest ones offer the music for worship. Rehearsals for children and youth ages 3 to 14 will be Wednesdays, November 1, 8, 15, 29 and December 6 from 6:15-6:45 PM in the music room. Questions? Advent Liturgists Needed
Each weekend in Advent we will hear different St Mark voices reading the wreath candle lighting liturgy inviting us toward the birth of our Savior. Please consider participating in this meaningful worship experience. Advent begins on Saturday evening December 2 and family or individual readers are needed for all Saturday and Sunday services.

Christmas Cards for the Active Military
St. Mark Caregivers are again asking you to sign Christmas cards for our military men and women, to be distributed through the USO at Lambert Airport. It’s easy for you to take part. Look for the red, white and blue box in the Narthex and select a card or cards from it. Sign it from your family or St. Mark, put it back in the envelope and leave it in the box. We will do the rest!
Suggested messages for the cards include: “Holding you in our prayers,” “With gratitude for your service,” or “Praying for your continued safety.” That’s up to you.
Thank you for your help with this project. We will conclude our collection at the end of November.
Blue Christmas Gathering – Wednesday, December 6 at 6:00 PM
Sometimes in the midst of holiday merriment we find ourselves feeling sad, lonely or grief stricken…Let us gather in the still and quiet evening to find space for remembering, sharing and comfort. We will reflect on God’s Word of peace and presence and find meaning and purpose in a slower, more spiritual advent 2017. You are invited! Wednesday, December 6 at 6:00 PM Fellowship Hall Questions? Our Spirituality Center will offer you a place of soul soothing, heart-warming calm and quiet amid the hustle and bustle and ‘to-do’ lists. You may participate with your family or as an individual in these prayer stations illuminating an Advent season of waiting, longing, hoping and abundant peace and joy.
Located in the Youth Lounge beginning Wednesday, December 6 and open Sundays and Wednesday evenings or by your request.

Poinsettias for Christmas
St. Mark continues our tradition of using poinsettias to beautify our sanctuary the last two Sundays of Advent. Please consider ordering one or more poinsettia to brighten your home or order a plant to be delivered to a homebound member as a tangible reminder of their spiritual connection to St. Mark. Order forms can be found at the flower chart in the office hallway. Place the order form and a check for $6 per plant in the “Flowers” mailbox in the church office by Sunday, November 26. Our poinsettias are sourced from a locally owned greenhouse. Questions, please contact Pat Eisenberg.
Looking Ahead to Advent – Children’s Ministries
On November 12, the Saint’s Fellowship group will be setting up the Angel Tree. The Angel Tree is a mission project of St. Mark’s Saints Fellowship group (children in grades 3-5). Working with Circle of Concern, Saints Fellowship “adopts” several families for Christmas. Select an angel ornament from the tree and purchase that gift. Place the angel on your purchase and return the unwrapped gift(s) to St. Mark.
Looking Ahead to Advent – Youth Activities
The Youth have been asked back as servers for the Christmas Tea on December 2. The St. Mark Christmas Tea is 1-5 PM. It is a great way to rack up service hours and you learn how to wait tables!
Youth Ministries will once again participate in Circle of Concern’s Angel Tree. We will have a family in addition to the families on the trees in the Narthex. Students will shop on December 6, before wrapping on December 10.
We will also participate in an Advent Spirituality Center. (see above for information on the Advent Spirituality Center)
