Two Year Old Class Teachers

Carolyn Hoechst

Carolyn Hoechst

I have been happily teaching in the Twos classroom at Claymont Preschool every day since 2021.  I love helping children learn through play, creativity, and exploration.  Watching two-year-olds discover the world around them brings so much joy to my days.  I enjoy creating a caring classroom where every child feels welcome, supported, and excited to learn. Preschool in the Twos is such a special time of growth for our students, and I love supporting them as they build friendships, gain confidence, and grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually.   I live in Manchester, raising my three children, who all attended Claymont Preschool during their preschool years, while I filled in as a substitute teacher in all the age-level classrooms. When not at Preschool, I enjoy our full schedule with my college, high school, and middle school children, with busy sports and work schedules.  We love our dogs, vacationing at the beach, and visiting amusement parks.

Tammy Smith

Tammy Smith

Hi!  My name is Tammy Smith.  I’ve been at Claymont Preschool since 2000. While I’ve taught in the Threes and Pre-K classes over the years, my heart has always belonged with the Twos. There’s something so special about that first year of preschool—watching two-year-olds learn, grow, and discover the world around them is pure joy. My goal is simple: to help every child feel safe, secure, and happy at school. I love supporting them as they build friendships, gain confidence, and grow socially, emotionally, and intellectually.

I live in Chesterfield with my husband. We raised three wonderful daughters here, and now I’m blessed to spend time with our five grandchildren. When I’m not at school, you’ll often find us traveling across the country, where I enjoy photographing birds and other wildlife.

Lindsay

Lindsay Doonan:

My name is Lindsay Doonan. I started at CPSM in 2025 and am so proud to be part of this wonderful team! I have a Bachelor’s Degree and am a proud resident of Claymont. My kids are going into second grade and kindergarten at Claymont Elementary. I am deeply involved in the community as a Girl Scout Leader, Trivia Night Co-Chair, and a room parent. Kids are the best and I love to help them learn and grow into amazing tiny humans!

Three Year Old Class Teachers

Julie Sax

Julie Sax

Hi, I’m Julie! I have over 20 years of experience in early childhood education and have worked in a variety of preschool settings throughout my career. I love helping children learn, grow, and discover the world around them, and I feel fortunate to do work that I truly enjoy.

When I’m not at school, I’m spending time with my family as a wife and mom to two wonderful girls. I love being outdoors, going on adventures with my family, and hanging out with our dog. Whether I’m in the classroom or at home, I enjoy making connections, creating memories, and finding joy in the little things.

Sabrina Seidel

Sabrina Seidel

With over 20 years of experience as a preschool teacher, I have had the joy of helping young children learn, grow, and build confidence in a loving environment. I truly value the strong foundation early education provides. I am married and have three grown children who all attended this preschool. I am also blessed with two grandchildren whom I enjoy spending lots of time with. Outside the classroom, I enjoy spending time at the lake with my family, traveling, reading, cooking, skiing, and hiking.

Jennifer Wipke

Jennifer Wipke

Hi! My name is Jennifer Wipke, and I am so excited to be the Science teacher here at CPSM! I have been in education for over 20 years, teaching first grade and all preschool levels. My absolute favorite part of teaching this age group is watching the pure excitement on their faces when they learn something new each day.  When I’m not in the classroom, you can usually find me tackling a home project, out for a walk, spending time with my husband Jim, our four grown children, and our three grandchildren—ideally with an iced chai latte in hand! Thank you for trusting CPSM with your children. I can’t wait for a fantastic year of fun science exploration!

PreK Class

Nikki Douglas

Nikki Douglas

My name is Nikki Douglas, and I have been at CPSM for 10 years. I started subbing in 2016, and then became part of the regular teaching staff in 2019. I have a Bachelor’s in English from Mizzou.  I love teaching preschool because it is often a child’s first school experience. I love helping children be excited about school and learning. It is so fulfilling to witness when a child grasps a new skill, both academically and socially. Even more, I enjoy seeing the pride and confidence they develop in themselves. I like that CPSM is play-based. Play allows children to explore, experiment, and learn about their part in the world around them.

When I am not in the classroom, you can find me walking around the neighborhood (I live a half mile from St. Mark!) or working in my yard. I love being outside! I married my high school sweetheart, Clay, in 2004. We have two daughters (both CPSM alumni) and two dogs.

Chastity Clar

Chastity Clark

My educational background began at the University of Wisconsin where I earned a B.S. in Biology and Psychology before going on to earn a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. After a few years as an Adoption/Fostercare Specialist, I chose to stay home with my children. My passion for working with preschoolers grew as I raised my own children. After a few years as a Parent Educator for Parents as Teachers, I decided I wanted to be more hands-on in preschool education. This brought me to begin teaching at CPSM in 2024. I love the sense of wonder preschoolers experience each day. The world is so new to them, and their little minds are constantly learning and growing as they make sense of it all. I believe in the play-centered environment CPSM provides, as it encourages children to explore and experiment while building kindergarten-readiness skills across all developmental domains.

Outside the classroom, you can usually find me attending school and sporting events with my husband, Brian, and our children, Britlyn and Dillon. Dillon is a CPSM alum! You’ll also see me in the neighborhood walking my adorable dog, Blue!

Rebecca B

Rebecca Bredenkoetter

My name is Rebecca Bredenkoetter, and I recently spent 13 years teaching at the elementary level in the Parkway School District. I am a proud mom of four children—Camden (13), Clara (5), Freddie (3), and Etta (9 months).  Having grown up in the Claymont neighborhood, I am thrilled to be joining a preschool right here in my community—especially one that my own children attend. This is truly one of our family’s favorite places, and I look forward to helping make it just as special for other families.

Music

Varna

Varna Chelliah

Hello everyone! I’m Mrs. Varna Chelliah. I’m the music teacher here at CPSM. How I landed in CPSM is nothing short of a miracle story, but I’m grateful for the opportunity. While I hold a master’s degree in Business Administration, I have been trained in western classical music for 15 years and Indian classical music for about 10 years. I play the guitar and the piano and enjoy sharing my gift with my little friends who walk into the music room always beaming with a smile! When I see and hear from parents the difference music has made in their child’s life, it brightens up my day!

My little crew at home consists of my husband, myself and my two little (well not so little anymore) kiddos. Jaden will be a Sophomore at Parkway Central High and my daughter Jiana will be in 5th grade this fall!

Preschool Director

Emily Ulmer

Emily Ulmer

Hi everyone!  My name is Emily Ulmer, and I am so excited to be the new director at CPSM!  I have a degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education and a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction from The University of Missouri.  I started my career in education as a first- and second-grade teacher, but decided to take a break from teaching to stay home with my children in their early years.  For the past 9 years, I have been teaching in the twos classroom at Chesterfield Presbyterian Preschool.

When I’m not at preschool, my husband Travis and I enjoy time with our four children (Owen, Molly, Jack, and Lucy) and our golden retriever named Teddy.  You’ll see us at many Parkway West sporting events, and we are also big Mizzou fans. We live in the Claymont neighborhood, and I love being a part of a preschool within my own community.

I believe early childhood education is extremely important.  As the first school experience for many children, we have the privilege of instilling in them a love of learning.  My goal is that every child will feel safe, known, and cared for while attending preschool.  CPSM is a special place, and I am honored to be here.
